Alquilbencil was formed at the end of 1997. The group consisted of: Joan Santanach (guitar), Carlos Rojo (guitar), Xavi Carbonell (drums), Ricard Pons (bass), Àlex Alguacil (keyboard) and Oriol Jiménez (sax).

We've been playing all through the year of '98 in the province of Barcelona. In October of the same year we took part in the 1st Festival "Ruidista-Progresivo" of Badalona. At this concert the band's first CD was recorded. In February 1999 we participated in the 1st "Concurso de Música Local de Badalona" were we won the first price. At this concert we recorded the song "magarrufa", which was published on a sampler with different groups from Badalona. The CD "Alquilbencil" came out at March of '99. A short time after that, the band separated.

The group was reformed in March 2000 with some changes in the formation: Ricard Pons (bass), Carlos Rojo (guitar), Oriol Jiménez (sax and voice), Àlex Alguacil (keyboard), Martí (drums). We've been preparing new songs and recorded four of them at the Hi-So studio in Badalona. Since we now have a full repertoire, we are looking for concerts to make us known better.
The first CD is currently distributed by "Pan y Música" (Barcelona) and "Musea" (France). New songs will be produced by "Musea".
